Of mice and men adaptation – two brothers growing up living
on a council estate/rough area one brother being very sharp, and the other being
quite slow… in their early years they were kicked out by careless parents who
didn’t want to look after the slow brother anymore because of divorce and drug
use. They grow up together – the smarter brother looking after the slow one. It
all results in the older brother going to a house party one night to let his
hair down – the younger brother has to come along as he can’t fend for himself.
After a while at the party the older brother goes off with a girl of interest.
Being left on his own the younger brother takes time out in a room on his own.
A random girl comes in and begins to mock him for his disability. To which the
younger brother gets very angry and sees red, picks up a nearby object and hits
her over with the head with it. She is clearly not breathing or active, and then the younger brother has realised what
he has done. He runs to find his older brother and tells him what’s happened. The
older brother knows the girl and knows that her boyfriend will kill him if he
stays there much longer as he is in a gang. They run home and then hear the gang approaching their
house. The older brother panics gets a gun from under his bed and shoots the
younger brother and runs away from the chaos.
To mix up the story and give it a twist I have also made a conclusion to this story that may or not be used - that the two brothers will be one person with a split personality and may not realise it until the very end of the story and neither will it be revealed to the audience until the conclusion of the story.
