Genre and Narrative: Research and Decision

For this unit we have been asked to write a 2,500 word essay about how film and television use genre and narrative to tell different types of stories. To explain the question set we have been asked to use an example, and the example I have used is the American television series Breaking Bad. I have chosen this to use because I feel that if you write about something you enjoy and like the style of it will show in your work. Breaking Bad is the story of Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at the beginning of the series. He turns to a life of crime, producing and selling methamphetamine (crystal meth) with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, with the aim of securing his family's financial future before he dies. Breaking Bad is a crime thriller/serial drama and Walter White plays the perfect anti-hero. I have posted a link for the trailer below.
