Production Concept: Puppet Personality

Today I have been studying some other programmes to see what sort of personality a puppet would have, and the main show I have come across is The Sooty Show, which is a popular programme that has been around for years, featuring 3 puppets - Sooty, Sweep and Soo. The puppets don't have any dialogue, but rather squeaking noises, and big reactions. They are very simple hand puppets, and are the main focus of the show. The human characters always seem to repeat what the puppets would supposedly say in question, which works but is strange.
