Today I have been searching into historical/geographical/general items that I can use in our Drop Shop, without being too stereotypical. Dependant on how many episodes I script, will be dependant on how many items of these I will use. These are the items I am possibly using as follows for our continents..
London, England: A London Underground Sign, A Magnifying Glass/Tweed Hat (Sherlock Holmes books)
Rome, Italy: Old Roman Currency/Coins, a Model of the Colosseum
Paris, France: Keyring of Eiffel Tower, A Lovelock Padlock from Louve Bridge, A Poster of Mona Lisa
Washington D.C, America: Model of White House (struggled to find anything that wasn't stereotypical and nothing to do with WW2.)
Canberra, Australia: Stuffed Kangaroo/Joey
Beijing, China: A Compass, as they invented it
New Dehli, India: A game of Snakes and Ladders as it was also invented there
Moscow, Russia: A Russian hat
Cairo, Egypt: Slab of Egyptian wall drawings
Dublin, Ireland: A shamrock (a clover)
Edinburgh, Scotland: Bagpipes, Kilt
All of these are subject to change, and I have tried to be non-stereotypical as much as I possibly can! This part of the project is proving difficult but I think as soon as I have figured the items that will be appearing in the show out, then the scripts will come together a lot more.
