Major Production: Development and Contacts

Yesterday myself and Tory sat down and after much discussion decided to email Anxiety UK in search for a subject to centre the documentary around. We sat down for about an hour and worked very hard at perfecting what we wanted to say to the head of media Terri Torevell. After a lot of discussion and crossing words out and re-writing sentences - this is the e-mail we ended up sending.

Dear Ms. Torevell

Our names are Gabrielle and Victoria. We are currently studying

Broadcast Media BA HONS, at the University of the Creative Arts.

We are currently planning our Final Major Project – which requires us to make a 15-minute moving image project. For this we are planning to create a documentary about and based on Phobias and Anxiety and how it can affect an individual.

After much research we have found your organisation and website to be the most insightful and driven to help the sufferers of anxiety’s/phobias.

We are contacting you today in regards to any possible help you are able to provide. We are hoping to find a participant in the Kent or London area for our main focus of the documentary. This will mean we would follow the individual on their day-to-day life and the challenges they may go through caused by a particular anxiety and phobia.

If you are able to put us in contact with anyone who suffers from anxiety or phobia symptoms that may be interested in being a part of our project we would be most grateful.

We were also interested in possibly including a member of your staff to be involved in or interviewed for part of our project. If this is possible we would love to have a member of your organisation explain more about what Anxiety UK does.

By creating this documentary we hope to raise awareness of anxiety’s, show the help that can be provided by companies such as yourself and finally give confidence to sufferers to seek help.

After a day of waiting we got a response quite swiftly which is encouraging. This was Ms. Torevell's reply.

The response is a lot better than I expected, and am willing to pay the £25 for the opportunity to find a participant. Tomorrow I will discuss with Tory with what she feels our next steps should be and whether we should take up their offer.
