Commission Unit: Planning

For our documentary unit I have been paired up with Zarah, and our documentary is about how the number of mums giving birth after the age of 35 have risen by 3.4 per cent and the number of women over the age of 40 rose by 6.7 per cent. We feel that this would make a good documentary because the media mainly focus on younger mums and it would be interesting to flip a subject like that on it's head.

Today I have e-mailed a few baby/toddler groups for the actuality shots in our documentary. I have contacted:
Medway Baby Sensory - a class that involves light shows and music.
Sing and Sign Maidstone - A music class for babies and toddlers.
Caterpillar Music Medway - Another music class for toddlers and their mums.

I feel that these companies would be useful to film because we need actuality shots of babies/toddlers  in naturalistic environment - maybe have an interview with the organiser of the classes - to see if they see many older mothers.
We are still waiting to hear back from these places.

We have also put an advert on Casting Call Pro looking for baby actors/actresses.

I have also done some research on other documentaries around our subject and have found a useful and very relevant clip on youtube and it has given me an idea of how I think a documentary like this should look like.
there is 4 parts in total.
