Direction Unit - Script

EXT. NATURE RESERVE - DAY

we see a RUN - DOWN GIRL of about 22 who's name is ROXI wearing TATTY CLOTHES, SPRINTING away from something or someone. We see her FACE full of PANIC as she PANTS and RUNS as it cuts to black and then to a title screen.

EXT. NATURE RESERVE - DAY

WE see ROXI STUMBLE into the PARK ENTRANCE with an EMPTY bottle of VODKA/WINE in one hand.

VOICE OVER - ROXI'S MOTHER

You've achieved nothing Roxi. Your father and I have decided you should leave until you sort yourself out. Get out!

She then LOBS the BOTTLE and it SMASHES on the CONCRETE FLOOR. She carries on STUMBLING into the PARK when she STOPS and WIPES her MOUTH. She notices a POSTCARD on the FLOOR. She HESITATES, but then PICKS IT UP ALL FINGERS THUMBS. It reads...

"Roxi, for a while you have been taking your life for granted. You have 3 minutes; someone else’s mission is to kill you. Escape them, and maybe you will appreciate what you have."

She SNORTS in disbelief, then THROWS the POSTCARD on the floor and SLUMPS on a near by bench, FIDDLING in her POCKET to find her CIGARETTES. She lights one DRUNKENLY and takes a DRAG.

She then drunkenly DROPS it, and SIGHS. She begins to reach for it. Then we see her ALARMED EXPRESSION, because there is a SUDDEN RUSTLE of bushes behind her.

We then see a HOODED FIGURE.

We see a close - up of SCARED/PANICKED face, gets up and CLUMSILY begins to RUN, LOPSIDED and TRIPPING OVER HER OWN FEET.

We see shots of TREES and the FOREST racing by as she is SPRINTING. Then she TUMBLES over a ROOT on the floor in the FOREST.

We see her BREAKING DOWN on the floor in the middle of the forest. Roxi hears a SNAPPING of a twig and PANICS. She QUICKLY but CLUMSILY gets on her feet and carries on SPRINTING.

She comes to an EXIT in the NATURE RESERVE and comes to a ABRUPT HALT. She then PEERS around to see if she is being FOLLOWED. She then BOUNDS out of the EXIT and onto the road. We see her SPRINT into the distance.

We then see the same HOODED FIGURE in the first scene walking a dog.

EXT. NATURE RESERVE - DAY

WE SEE AN IMMACULATELY DRESSED GIRL ENTER THE PARK - ROXI, CLASPING SOMETHING IN HER HANDS. WE THEN SEE HER PLACE THE SAME POSTCARD ON THE FLOOR THAT SHE FOUND EARLIER. SHE SMILES AT THE CAMERA THEN LEAVES THE PARK.

ALTERNATE ENDING -
WE DO NOT BREAK THE FOURTH WALL, AND SHE WILL JUST SMILE TO HERSELF INSTEAD OF THE CAMERA.
